🏢 Abandoned Places - What is left of them ?

Most of you probably know about the property I'm going to talk about, or even have an idea of it. The building I'm referring to is "Yiorkio Residence". (I hope I live up to your expectations, pardon me if I don't.)

Here's a "long-story-short" about it (for those who haven't heard of it) : Yiorkio Residence is an abandoned luxury hotel ,containing 13 floors, located next to the Ministry of Health in Nicosia. It was enhanced by a spacious entrance and impressive lobby, three swimming pools, a fitness centre and luxury spa. (We're talking for a hell of a lot of money spent here!)

This is a glimpse of the hotel (and its surroundings) in late 2016 - start of 2017.

Yiorkio through my eyes.

This path is located behind the building, and I would recommend that if you ever get the chance to visit this place, to explore the path as well. The colours are unbelievably dazzling 🌺

----------------------------------------------------

One thing I love about abandoned areas is, if you look beneath the damage they've been through there is still so much beauty in them. And if you can't see that, as Audrey Hepburn said, " You have eyes my dear, but you cannot see. "

----------------------------------------------------

Now, let's go inside.

The place is filled with dirt, damaged walls & doors, broken windows, but most importantly - graffiti. Some people may consider it as vandalism, but I find it intriguing how people come to this place to express themselves; to spend some time away from everyone and everything to do what they love. People have even painted the bathroom doors and walls.

(Great job to whoever did this + all the other ones.)

And then there are more of the 3D's : dirt-dust-damage.

But... here comes my favourite part.

----------------------------------------------------

The Rooftop.

----------------------------------------------------

Yiorkio, rather than being famous only for it's luxurious apartments, is also famous for the breathtaking view of it's rooftop; You can almost see the whole city from up there!

And me? I love observing the world from above. It gives me shivers, how you are that high that almost noone notices your figure. You can sit there for hours, and not be bothered by anyone -- instead, you feel calm. Calmer than you've ever been in your entire life; and you notice how small you are in such a gigantic world and how nothing should ever circle around you - and only - you.

Exploring adandoned areas is one of my favourite things to do when I have the chance, as each place holds a story that's ready to be told in ways that the use of words is not necessary; you just look at it and let your imagination take ahold of you.

You can visit Yiorkio whenever, it doesn't matter if its morning, afternoon or even night(even if u can't see anything because it's complete darkness-except from the rooftop part which is extraordinary). I promise, you won't be dissapointed.

* Nevertheless, if you are afraid of heights I wouldn't recommend it.

Hope you like this guys ! I'm sorry if it's a bit long, but I've always wanted to share my thoughts on this topic. Cheers 🙌🏻 See you soon !
